Prime-Minister Vasile Tarlev is concerned with the difficult situation regarding the car parking in the Municipality of Chisinau. The PM addressed the Chisinau City Hall an order, requesting to take urgent measures for solving the parking-related problems, Info-Prim Neo reports, with reference to a press statement from the Government. According to the source, the Premier requested that the capital’s authorities announce, within a month, a contest for attracting investments for building storied parkings in the capital’s districts. The problem of auto parkings in the municipality of Chisinau has repeatedly loomed over the last 10 years, but the numerous projects of the capital’s administration concerning the construction of multi-storied parkings has not been supported by the central authorities, budget scarcity or the lack of a normative framework on protecting private investments being set forth. Moreover, a decision of the local authorities on banning the parking of cars on pavements, a phenomenon impeding pedestrians’ circulation, especially in downtown Chisinau, was shortly annulled by the Government. About 200,000 transport units are registered in the Municipality of Chisinau. In addition, the capital is transited by 50 to 60 thousands cars daily.
