PM requests elimination of illegal schemes on roads

About MDL 1 bln will be allotted in 2007 for the renovation of the national road network. Priority will be afforded to the reconstruction of the Chisinau-Leuseni, Chisinau-Comrat, Orhei-Rezina, Orhei-Singerei and Causeni-Palanca directions. At the same time, the process of designing and construction of the Criva-Giurgiulesti highway is to start, by attracting a strategic investor. This fact has been confirmed by the PM Vasile Tarlev, within the session of the Ministry of Transport and Road Management (MTGD).
According to a Government’s press release, the head of Executive solicited the prompt organisation of transparent international tenders for selecting designers and entrepreneurs ans starting the process of implementing the mentioned project.
MTGD is to estimate the condition of the local roads and propose an action plan together with local authorities for their reconstruction and the creation of omnibus stops.
Another priority in the activity of MTGD, according to the PM, is to install the necessary traffic signs and opperating road marking.
Concerning the carriage of passengers and goods, the PM stated that there persist several illegal schemes in this domain, which will be urgently eliminated for the security of the traffic and best conditions for the activity of economic entities.
At the same time, Tarlev pleaded for continuing the actions on the modernisation and extension of railways. For this purpose, the building of the Cahul-Giurgiulesti and Basarabeasca-Berezino railroads is to begin.
The development of the naval transportation represents another priority of the MTGD, in Tarlev’s opinion. The PM requested the improvement of the legal frame and its adjustment to international norms in the domain.
