The Prime Minister of Ukraine Oleksiy Honcharuk will pay a visit to Moldova next March. The Moldovan-Ukrainian intergovernmental commission will meet in Chisinau the same month to discuss at least 14 matters included in the bilateral agenda, stated Prime Minister Ion Chicu, who visited Kiev on December 12, IPN reports.
In a meeting with Government officials, the Premier said the meeting with his Ukrainian counterpart in Kiev is the second during the past two weeks. The first was held in London on November 22, when they agreed the subjects that should be discussed at bilateral level. On December 12, they conferred on 14 definite subjects of common interest, some of which are over 20 years old.
“I ascertain with satisfaction that the friendly and mutually advantageous dialogue at the level of Heads of Government was restored. As a result of these two meetings, we reached agreements about the subsequent discussions for the next year already. We managed to solve the problem of international transport that was blocked owing to the lack of transport authorizations. Two-three weeks ago, problems were encountered in obtaining authorizations for international transportation on Russia’s territory. The same problem was faced in relation to Ukraine. We managed to overcome the situation so that our carriers could operate routes or could cross Ukraine on the way to Russia and other countries,” stated the official.
Among the issues that will be addressed by the Moldovan-Ukrainian intergovernmental commission, the Premier mentioned the heritage problem, the ecological condition of the Nistru, the hydropower plans on the Nistru, liberalization of transport and cooperation in the energy sector. “I also want to underline the necessity of demarcating the state border, both in Giurgiulești and in some northern and southern sectors and on the Transnistrian segment,” said Ion Chicu.
