The prime-minister Vasile Tarlev addressed a congratulation message to Victor Ianukovici on the occasion of his appointment as Ukrainian prime-minister.
According to a press release of the Government Press Service, prime-minister Tarlev expressed his hope that the agreement previously signed between Moldova and Ukraine will be further implemented “for the wellbeing of both countries and its peoples”.
In mid July, the Ukrainian MP, member of the party headed by Victor Inaukovici, Regions’ Party, Taras Cernovil declared that a new Government leaded by Ianukovici could “cancel the sanctions applied by Ukraine to Transnistria”, referring to the new customs regime applied at the border of the Transnistrian region of Moldova.
On the other hand, the Ukrainian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Boris Tarasiuk who still holds his position in the “Cabinet Council of Ianukovici” said while visiting Moldova that the parliamentary coalition and the new composition of the Government will not influence the existent foreign affairs policy. He declared that Kiev does not regret and will not give up to the Joint Declaration of the Moldovan and Ukrainian prime-ministers, although the new customs regime at the Moldovan-Ukrainian border caused economic losses to Ukraine.
