“I insisted that the recent elections be held freely and fairly. And I insisted on this and invited a large number of observers, both national and international ones, not in vain. We took all the measures for these elections to be really free and fair. I was very glad to see the OSCE/ODIHR preliminary reports showing the elections were free and fair, “ Prime Minister Pavel Filip stated in the February 27 meeting of the Cabinet.

The Premier noted the insignificant shortcomings that were signaled cannot influence the election outcome. The voters in the diaspora this time also experienced fewer problems and no major deficiencies were reported at polling stations abroad, IPN reports, quoting the Government’s press service.

Pavel Filip said the ministers who were suspended for the period of the election campaign returned to work on February 27. “Until the legality of elections is confirmed and the seats of the new MPs are validated, the Government remains functional and has full powers. Later, after validation, until a new executive is formed, we will have a provisional Government with limited powers. We continue to work as we have a lot to do yet. This is not the easiest period so that we do not have time to rest,” stated the official.
