Prime Minister Vlad Filat expressed his indignation at how things were allowed to degenerate into a scandal at the baked goods company Franzeluta, following the dismissal of its director by the board of administrators, and requested stricter governmental control, considering that the government held the majority interest in Franzeluta. In particular, Filat criticized Agriculture and Food Industry Minister Vasile Bumacov for failing to “use all the legal leverages” to avoid such a situation. Also, the prime minister reprimanded the Ministry of the Internal Affairs for the failure to ensure order at Franzeluta, referring to certain abuses reportedly committed by the sacked director. The Franzeluta Board on Monday dismissed the company's director, Eugen Baleca, citing findings of an inspection conducted by the Anti-corruption Center. According to Minister Vasile Bumacov, Baleca refused to comply, took the company's seal and absconded. The newly appointed director was refused access and the Board members have been intimidated by the company's guard staff; moreover, some Board members were locked inside their offices and kept there for a while. On Tuesday, a district court annulled Baleca's dismissal and today the Board appealed.
