The administration of the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) warns public opinion about a media attack on the Republic of Moldova, staged by the Russian Federation and guided by President Igor Dodon. According to the Lib-Dems, by a pretended documentary film called ”History of Moldova”, attempts are being made to develop the idea of the lack of identity of the majority population and of any right to historical continuity on Moldova’s territory.
In a news conference at IPN, chairman of the PLDM Viorel Cibotaru said that President Igor Dodon devoted his first year in office to a very dubious cinematographic project, transforming thus the presidential institution into an annex of the Kremlin, which reflects the interests of the Russian state rather than of the citizens of the Republic of Moldova.
MP Tudor Deliu, chairman of the Liberal-Democratic parliamentary group, requested the Head of State to make public data about the origin of the money used to repair the Presidential Building and the residence in Condrita, to specify the sources of the charity foundation patronized by his wife and the resources used to make the film ”History of Moldova”. As long as the source of the money is unclear, the phenomenon can be treated as abuse of power, appropriation and passive corruption.
“The people want to know the source of the documentary that distorts the history of this nation. The smell of propaganda is felt from far away. What will follow? A second part where you will tell us that Transnistria should have the own Government,” noted Tudor Deliu, saying that the “keeping of integrity” invoked by Igor Dodon leads to division.
Ion Terguta, a member of the Political Bureau of the PLDM, said the film suggests that there is no historical continuity on Moldova’s territory. The film will be distributed to schools, as President Dodon said, and this is dangerous. The fact that Igor Dodon used as authors of the film an ex-image adviser of the self-styled separatist leader Yevgheny Shevchuk and persons involved in the production of the film against Romania, made in April 2009, is serious.
The PLDM requests the Security and Intelligence Service to determine the sources from which the production was financed. It also asks the Academy of Sciences to make an appraisal of the film, while the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research is requested to take measures to prevent the distribution of this media product as an alternative teaching aid.
