Stefan Rosca, a sympathizer of the Liberal Democratic Party of Moldova (PLDM), says that he was attacked by several masked persons on Monday, while he was guarding a campaign poster of the party located in Buiucani district of Chisinau, Info-Prim Neo reports.
At a news conference, he said that he received a 6-cm stab wound after one of the men injured him with a knife. Stefan Rosca said that he has protected the election posters from vandals since last week, on his own initiative. “Two of them managed to escape. I caught the third, but he stabbed me,” Rosca related.
He also said that he called the police immediately, but they could not catch the well-built culprits aged between 22 and 25. “At the police station, they told me to wait until they call me, but they did not call me,” the PLDM supporter said.
According to the PLDM leader Vlad Filat, the incident forms part of many other incidents that take place at the meetings of the party’s members with the voters. They are aimed at intimidating the participants and frightening them. The people are already afraid. The last opinion poll shows that 77% of the Moldovans are marked by a strong feeling of fear.
“Employees of the Ministry of the Interior and of the Security and Information Service film all our meetings and follow every move. They look like those that participated in the devastation of the buildings of the Parliament and the Presidential Office,” Vlad Filat said, calling on them to observe the law, not the interests of Voronin” (Vladimir Voronin, the leader of the PCRM – e.n.).
The Ministry of the Interior did not comment on this incident and on the statements made by the PLDM leader.
