The administration and members of 14 regulatory and inspection institutions should be chosen at public and transparent contests. Such a proposal was put forward by the parliamentary group of the Liberal Democratic Party, which made a public call and invited all those interested to debate the given legislative initiative, IPN reports.

In a news conference on February 18, Liberal-Democratic MP Tudor Deliu said the bill concerning the procedure for selecting members and managers of inspection, regulatory and surveillance bodies that are under parliamentary control at public contests defines the method of setting up the contest commission. This commission will include four representatives of civil society, a representative of the academic community and two representatives of Parliament. The candidates for the public contest will be chosen based on fundamental principles, such as integrity, professionalism, open competition, efficiency and responsibility.

Tudor Deliu noted that the legislative initiative is aimed at depoliticizing the institutions controlled by Parliament and at ensuring their professional, efficient and integral management, for the benefit of society and the state. “The current government intentionally delays the process of depoliticizing and ensuring the independence of the bodies empowered to supervise, inspect and regulate,” said the MP.

The bill applies to the president and members of the Audit Office, prosecutor general and his deputies, director and vice directors of the Security and Intelligence Service, governor and vice governor of the National Bank of Moldova, members of the Supervisory Board and Executive Committee of the National Bank, chairman and members of the Broadcasting Coordination Council, chairman and members of the Central Election Commission, director and vice directors of the National Anticorruption Center, president and members of the National Integrity Commission, parliamentary ombudspersons, etc.

The consultations will last until March 10.
