The Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) is ready to support the union of the forces of the right so as to make the achievement of the pro-European and pro-unionist desideratum possible, stated the party’s leader Tudor Deliu. He said he already had a meeting with representatives of the Union Political Movement and discussed the ensuring of cooperation of the parties of the right. The Action and Solidarity Party (PAS), the Party “Dignity and Truth Platform” (PPPDA) and the National Unity Party (PUN) will also have meetings with the Union Movement so as to discuss the prospects of the upcoming elections, IPN reports.
Tudor Deliu said that he recently had a meeting with representatives of the Union Movement where they discussed the future actions and agreed on the necessity of having a permanent dialogue on the unification of the unionist forces. They also agreed that a dialogue platform will be formed to discuss the problems that should unite the parties of the right. “The PLDM remains open to the consolidation of the pro-European and pro-unionist forces so that we try and achieve those objectives that we set together in 2009. I refer to the European course,” the politician stated in the talk show “Emphasis on today” on TVR Moldova channel.
Valeriu Munteanu, chairman of the Save Bessarabia Union that forms part of the Union Movement, said that in the meeting of the PLDM and the Union Movement, it was discussed the possibility of integrating the PLDM into the Movement. “We would like this to happen as swiftly as possible so that we crystalize a more powerful unionist perspective in the collective conscience,” he noted.
The politician said that meetings will also be held with the PAS, PPPDA and PUN, which confirmed their interest. “After the fellows discuss at bilateral level, we could discuss all together at that table so as to see what instruments we have and to facilitate somehow the electoral year 2020,” explained Valeriu Munteanu.
PAS MP Mihai Popșoi said their party showed its readiness to support this initiative. For them it is important that the unionist vote reaches the legislative body or this would be the nicest present for the parties of the right, which could obtain additional seats of MP following the distribution of seats after the elections. “That’s why it is in our party’s interest that our partners from the pro-European, unionist right combine forces and build a solid team so that they are powerfully represented in Parliament after the parliamentary elections, no matter when these take place, and struggle against the Russian left together with us,” stated Mihai Popșoi.
