The National Responsibility Pact for a European Moldova, proposed by the Liberal Democratic Party, is an initiative in the European spirit, but it must represent the while society, not only one party. It would have been better if it had been a common initiative of the government coalition, consider the chairman of the National Participation Council Sergiu Ostaf and foreign policy expert Lina Grau, IPN reports.

Lina Grau said the initiative is good, but it was proposed by one party and thus may cause rivalry within the coalition, as at the star of this year. Such rivalry is not good. “It now depends on what the Democratic Party will do. It would have been very well if the initiative had been proposed by the coalition,” stated the expert.

She added that in general, the approach of this pact is European. “But our society is divided and it depends on how the people interpret this gesture. I was skeptical about the November 3 assembly, but it was successful. It is important that such a movement exist in society. The Europeans are waiting for actions from us. But it should be the voice of the people, not of one party,” said Lina Grau.

Sergiu Ostaf considers the initiative is important. “I think this initiative is correct. We will now see if this pact signed by one party is attractive for other forces and players. My opinion is that if it had been put forward by several players, it would have been certainly supported. If the November 3 event had been staged by one party, it would have been less significant,” he stated.

On November 18, the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) called on the leaders of all the parliamentary and extra-parliamentary parties, civil society and the ordinary people of Moldova to sign the National Responsibility Pact for a European Moldova, which is a commitment as regards the European integration course. The signatories pledge to act in concert and to ensure the cohesion of whole society, elites, political forces, civil society and the people. They also commit themselves to ensure the continuity of the European integration process, despite provocations and pressure, and to promote the European integration as a national project and to mobilize society around this project.
