The Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) started an information campaign for the September 5 constitutional referendum themed “Be Powerful, Elect the President”. Members and sympathizers of the party gathered in the National Opera House square in Chisinau on August 14 to urge the people to take part in the referendum, Info-Prim Neo reports.
PLDM chairman, Prime Minister Vlad Filat said the Liberal-Democrats during the campaign will travel to every settlement and tell the people about the importance of the September 5 day. “We will go from house to house, talk with the people and distribute informative materials. We will also show a video about the differences between the present system of government and the semi-presidential one we want,” Vlad Filat said.
According to Vlad Filat, the discussions with the people will center not only on the presidential elections, but also on the prospects of developing the country “because the Moldovan people need stability and must obtain what they deserve.” “We will meet after September 5 to celebrate the result,” he said.
Iurie Craciuneac, the head of the PLDM’s youth organization in Cahul district, said that over 500 young people from Cahul will go from home to home, inform the people and encourage them to participate in the referendum. The first deputy head of the youth organization in Ungheni Ion Maler said every party member from the district will get involved in the campaign from today and will tell the people that they have the right to elect their President by popular vote. “Only this way, will Moldova develop,” he said.
About 500 persons took part in the launch, according to the organizers.
