The Liberal Democratic Party of Moldova (PLDM) supports the nomination of Maia Sandu, who heads the Party “Action and Solidarity” (PAS), as a common candidate for President of three parties – the PAS, PLDM and the Party “Platform Dignity and Truth”. The decision was taken in the October 15 meeting of the National Political Council of the PLDM, IPN reports.
After the meeting, the chairman of the PLDM Viorel Cibotaru said the decision was taken by a unanimous vote. He called on his colleagues from the other two parties to combine forces in order to win the October 30 presidential elections.
The three parties in summer agreed to field a common candidate for President and the polls carried out for the purpose showed Maia Sandu has bigger chances of winning the expected runoff vote than the leader of the Party “Platform Dignity and Truth” Andrei Nastase.
