The Liberal-Democratic lawmakers insist that the members of the parliamentary commission of inquiry into the situation at Banca de Economii (BEM) and in the financial-banking sector of Moldova should submit statements to show the absence of conflicts of interests. They consider that the members in situations of conflicts of interest should withdraw from the commission so as not to affect the investigation, the objectivity of the conclusions and recommendations and their credibility, Info-Prim Neo reports.
According to a communiqué from the PLDM, the Law Division of the Parliament’s Secretariat announced that the members of the commission of inquiry who are facing conflicts of interest are obliged to inform the Speaker about this so that they are replaced by other persons.
The managers of public institutions and the National Integrity Commission will immediately take measures to solve the conflicts of interest made known and will inform the competent bodies about the identified violations.
The commission of inquiry has nine members, four of whom represent the Party of Communists, three the PLDM, one the Liberals, and one the Democrats. It is headed by Oleg Reidman, while Valeriu Guma is its secretary.
