The candidate of the Liberal Democratic Party of Moldova (PLDM) for the post of mayor of Racovat village of Soroca district Mihail Andries was beaten by three individuals wearing balaclavas in his house last night, IPN reports, quoting a communique of the party.
As a result of the ill-treatment, Mihail Andries suffered serious bodily injuries and needed emergency medical assistance. He was admitted to the intensive care unit of the Soroca District Hospital.
The candidate submitted a complaint to the police. The suspects have been identified. These include the candidate for mayor of the Political Party “Our Party” (PPPN) Mitrofan Mihail, his nephew and a relative of his.
In such conditions, the District Electoral Council of Racovat is to give its consent to arresting the candidate of the PPPN so that the police could establish all the circumstances of this case.
The PLDM condemns the attack on Mihail Andries and is confident that the authors of this abuse will be punished in accordance with the law.
Contacted by phone by IPN, the PPPN’s press service said the party will state its official position on the incident later.
