The Liberal-Democratic parliamentary group asks the Liberal and Democratic groups to vote in favor of including proposals concerning the integrity and declaration of the incomes of civil servants, the liquidation of specialized court and combating of corruption in the agenda of the sittings until the end of the spring-summer session. A related statement was made by the leader of the Liberal-Democratic group Valeriu Strelet in a news conference, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“Given the regulations, the ethics and the rights of the elected authorities guaranteed by the Constitution of Moldova, we call on all the parliamentary groups to immediately subscribe to the initiative to lift the immunity of the MPs and to jointly work out the strategy for reviewing the immunity of judges and prosecutes so as to gradually correlate the degree of immunity and the degree of responsibility before the law and the people,” said Valeriu Strelet.
The Liberal-Democratic group says it is not much time left for adopting the given legislative initiatives until the end of the spring-summer session. It signed the amendment bill to lift the immunity of the lawmakers, but there are needed at least three more signatures for it to be approved by the Constitutional Court. “Regretfully, the colleagues from the AEI make public statements, saying the process of adopting these important reforms is not urgent,” stated Valeriu Strelet.
The Liberal-Democrat lawmakers also demand that the Head of Parliament revises his style of organizing and chairing the plenary sittings. “The Speaker ridicules the PLDM’s initiatives aimed at regulating the order, security and access to the supreme legislative body. The manifestations of voluntarism and violation of the regulations when postponing and interrupting the plenary sittings reached inadmissible levels, affect the dignity of the elected authorities and fuel tensions in society,” said Valeriu Strelet.
