The Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) fielded Iurie Leanca for the post of Prime Minister within the consultations staged by President Nicolae Timofti at the State Residence, the party’s leader Vlad Filat said after the discussions, assuring that Moldova will have a Government, IPN reports.

“We now must secure at least 51 votes of MP so that we have an invested Government in the shortest period of time possible. At this stage, we must have discussions to secure the votes needed for investing the Cabinet. I expect that we will have a Government soon,” stated Vlad Filat.

He noted that discussions should be held with the Communist MPs and the Liberal ones. “So far we haven’t discussed candidates with the PCRM. We have an agreement with the PDM,” said the Liberal-Democratic leader. “We are to hold discussions so as to agree a candidate for premiership and to get the votes needed for the Government to be installed.”

On January 27, Nicolae Timofti holds consultations with four parliamentary groups with a view to designating a candidate for the post of Prime Minister. The factions of the PLDM, PDM, PCRM and PL were invited to the State Residence. The head of state already had a meeting with the Socialist faction, which informed that they will not put forward candidates and will not vote for the new Cabinet.

After the candidate for premiership is designated by the head of state, within 15 days he/she asks for the Parliament’s vote of confidence for the government program and the nominal composition of the Cabinet.
