The prosperous future of the Republic of Moldova is guaranteed only within the EU as part of which the century-old aspirations of the Romanian nation can be achieved. In view of the parliamentary elections of 2019, the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) accepts the desideratum of Moldova’s union with Romania as a natural expression of the ideal of its members, says a resolution that was adopted by the party in its eighth extraordinary congress held on September 9, IPN reports.

The resolution notes that in the 2019 elections, the PLDM will represent the option that offers the chance of renaissance, modernization and moral recovery and its mission is to rehabilitate the notions of democracy and individual freedoms. The party offers a new view on Moldova’s development and undertakes to fully implement the Association Agreement with the EU as the only method of obtaining the EU member candidate status. Also, the PLDM banks on a broad coalition with the partner parties PAS and PPPDA.

In the congress, the PLDM ascertained that the Republic of Moldova faces the most diabolic political regime in its history, characterized by the usurpation of power by the political clientele of the Democratic Party and taking over of the control over the state by a narrow group of persons with evident inclinations to dictatorship and terror. According to the PLDM, democracy was transformed into a phantom for mimicking elections and legalizing a political power imposed by electoral fraud and intimidation.

The resolution also says that the Republic of Moldova isolates itself further at international level and becomes the partner of authoritarian regimes. The relations with the EU and the U.S. become more difficult and the economic and financial support that is so needed by the country became impossible owing to the anti-democratic departures. Instead, the regime becomes more reactionary and the use of force to suppress any form of protest is more wide and violent. Poverty and depopulation are a direct consequence of the decline of democracy and national economy. It is a consequence of the lack of vision and direct result of the subduing of the economy to the interests of political-financial groups affiliated to the government of the PDM.
