Playing children set fire to warehouse

A warehouse in Marcauti, Briceni district has burned down completely as a result of children playing with fire. The chief of the anti-fire propaganda centre of the Fire Department, Liliana Puscasu, told Info-Prim Neo that the fire was started by children who lit the dried vegetation around the lake near the warehouse. The 625 sq meters wooden warehouse has burned immediately. Firemen from Briceni and Edinet have managed to stop the flames from spreading to other warehouses nearby. At 2.00 a.m. an automobile VAZ-2103 started to burn in a yard from Rascani town. By the time the firemen arrived, the car has burned down. Police are investigating the case to find out the cause of the fire, which seems to be weird due to the fact that the car has been resting there for a considerable time. Last week has recorded 41 fires, in which one man died. From the beginning of the year, there have been recorded 591 fires in which 82 persons have died, while 96 buildings and 35 transport units were destroyed. According to statistic data, the 4 leading causes of fires are careless smoking, use of defective heating systems, imprudence when using open fire and short circuits in electric networks.
