A play about the social and political consequences of post-communism will be premiered in Chisinau on November 28. “Antidot” by Nicoleta Esinencu is staged on the occasion of 20 years of the fall of the Berlin Wall, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting the Chisinau City Hall’s press service.
“Antidot” deals with the consequences of post-communism for a society in which the individual dies not matter. The play depicts a world in which the children address letters asking for peace to world leaders at the age of 10. The daily education is centered on the use of the anti-gas mask and disassembling of a Kalashnikov gun, the press release says.
The project involves Rodica Oanta, Valeriu Pahomi, Veaceslav Sambris and Doriana Talmazan, visual artists Victor Grusevan and Vlad Nanca and 18 dramatists from 15 European countries that wrote about the social and political consequences of post-communism.
The play will be performed at the Chisinau Exhibitions Center “Constantin Brancusi” during November 28-December 4, starting at 19.00. It is the first play put on as part of the After the Fall project launched by Goethe-Institute Bucharest and Trailer Theatre.
Plays written by April de Angelis, Andrzej Stasiuk, Dirk Laucke and Christian Lollike will be staged during a year at Royal Court Theatre in London, Stary Teatr in Krakow and other theaters.
The project is implemented in partnership with the Chisinau City Hall, PRO FM Radio Station, the Exhibitions Center “Constantin Brancusi”, the Union of Plastic Artists of Moldova, “Munchausen” journal and “Imago” House of Ideas.
