The suspended chief prosecutor of the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office Viorel Morari said there are particular ties between the wife of the prosecutor general and persons close to Veaceslav Platon and Platon himself and this shows why the examination of the revision case featuring this is being hastened. Viorel Morari anticipates he could be subject to blackmail.

In a news conference at IPN, Viorel Morari said the behavior of Veaceslav Platon, when he tries to intimidate, to corrupt or to influence persons who are not on his side or who put up residence to him within the legal framework matches well this situation. Owing to such a behavior, differentiated treatment on the part of the parties involved in the case in which he is accused and in the revision case featuring Platon is witnessed.

According to Morari, both of the cases are examined by the Buiucani branch of the Chisinau City Court. However, a delay is attempted in the case of Morari, while the case of revision of Veaceslav Platon’s conviction is hastened.

The suspended chief prosecutor of the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office noted that while collecting facts for the next hearings, on the website of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine he found documents showing that Prosecutor General Alexandr Stoianoglo’s wife was the beneficiary of two stockholders of a commercial bank of Moldova in which Veaceslav Platon owned holdings.

Viorel Morari said he is not afraid of the prosecutor general or of Veaceslav Platon and will do his best to reveal the illegalities of the two as these seriously affect the independence of the prosecution service and of justice in general.

He underlined that he does not intend to shrink from responsibility even if he was informed by his lawyer today that he was summoned for January 14 in connection with another possible suspicion. “I reiterate that I do not intend to avoid responsibility even if I knew for sure that I would be again placed in remand detention at Penitentiary No. 13. I’m ready to take my clothes and go to the penitentiary’s gates and to wait for your abuses, Mister Stoianoglo,” stated Viorel Morari.
