The Civic Platform “Dignity and Truth” is preparing a new large-scale protest that will be mounted in the Great National Assembly Square on October 4. Members of the Platform on September 27 announced that other colleagues of theirs are travelling through the country and meeting with people whom they urge to come to the center of Chisinau next Sunday to demand that the country be returned to them, IPN reports.
Platform member Liviu Vovc made an appeal to the people from the diaspora, saying October 4 is a decisive day for the protesters. “We will then take the country back and will give the last blow. Ask your relatives who are in the country to come and take part in this event. Now or never. Tell your relatives the truth, inform yourselves and ask them to come to the Great National Assembly Square on October 4,” he stated.
Several hundred supporters of the Platform protested in the central square of Chisinau last Sunday too. The square was also crossed by the column of protesters mobilized by the Party of Socialists and the “Our Party”. No incidents occurred.
The fifth large-scale protest staged by the Civic Platform “Dignity and Truth” will take place on October 4. After the last protest of the kind, the protesters put up tents in the center of Chisinau and have stayed there nonstop. The Platform demands that a number of senior state officials should resign, starting with the head of state and ending with the chairman of the National Integrity Commission, as well as holding early parliamentary elections.
