The citizens of the Republic of Moldova can access the platform alegeri.md to get a clear and comprehensive picture of the candidates and their offer in the general local elections of November 5, the executive director of the Association for Participatory Democracy ADEPT stated in a news conference hosted by IPN.
Igor Boțan called on the people to visit the website web alegeri.md that centers on the elections in Moldova. This is a platform developed as an “electoral encyclopedia” for Moldova, where the electoral platforms of the candidates, especially for the municipality of Chisinau, are presented. “Our goal is for this information to help you make a very conscious choice by consulting this platform,” stated Igor Boțan.
Good governance expert Inna Vrînceanu said that to offer the people substantiated information, the ADEPT team collected information about the election contenders in the municipality of Chisinau, the situation in electoral constituencies and the competitors who were registered in suburban settlements, opinion polls that present the preferences of citizens and election monitoring reports.
This way, the website provides information about the mayoral election and the registered election contenders, including the party that put them forward, the slogans and electoral symbols of the candidates, how the electoral symbols will be presented on the ballot.
The platform includes opinion polls and the profiles of candidates. According to Inna Vrînceanu, ADEPT communicated practically with each candidate apart to collect information about them, including biographical data and their electoral platform, activities of partners within different projects, interviews given by candidates, their incomes based on data collected by the Central Election Commission and compared with other available sources.
ADEPT analyzed the electoral platforms of the candidates shown to be the favorite ones in polls. Respectively, there were analyzed the electoral promises of the preferred two candidates - Ion Ceban of the MAN and Lilian Carp of the PAS. There is also presented information about the elections in suburban settlements and the candidates registered there.
Inna Vrînceanu considers that such a method of presenting information on alegeri.md is friendly to the public.
