From September 24, the travelers will be able to buy one-way plane tickets to Venice and Roma at prices varying between €20 to €150, depending on the period. In cooperation with the Chisinau International Airport, the airline Wizz Air launched two low-cost flights to Italy. The tickets are already on sale and can be booked on the company’s official website. The flights will be operated two times a week, on Tuesday and Saturday, IPN reports.

Petru Jardan, acting director general of the Chisinau International Airport, told a news conference that the signing of the agreement on joining the European Common Aviation Area was the first step taken by Moldova. “We worked out policies to stimulate the airlines that provide new routes. We haven’t yet had such low prices,” he stated, adding that the airport taxes were also decreased.

Wizz Air representatives Tamara Mshvenieradze said that this cooperation with the Moldovan airport is a success and will be extended over time by operating new flights.

In a meeting with the commercial director of Wizz Air Gyorgy Abran in Brussels, Prime Minister Iurie Leanca said the Government of Moldova created the conditions needed for the air transportation services to be more accessible.

Gyorgy Abran said that Wizz Air plans to transport up to 60,000 passengers by the two flights that ensure connection between Chisinau and Italy.

The agreement on the European Common Aviation Area between Moldova and the EU was signed in Brussels on June 26, 2012. Wizz Air is an operator of low-cost flights in Central and Eastern Europe. It works in 33 countries and provides over 270 routes.
