A plane on a charter flight from Yerevan to Chisinau made an emergency landing at the Otopeni Airport, Romania after a scandal apparently broke out among the passengers. Meanwhile, Moldova’s national emergency service received a call claiming there was a bomb aboard that flight.
The plane made an emergency landing at the Otopeni Airport, and the Romanian Intelligence Service initiated checks of the aircraft and the passengers’ luggage, reports Antena 3 CNN.
Sources told Antena 3 CNN that the flight in question was 5F535, operated by Mongolian Airways.
Vladimir Cebotari, a shareholder of FlyOne Moldova, told realitatea.md he had no information as to why the flight was diverted. A Mongolian airline had been contracted by FlyOne Armenia for the charter flight at the request of a travel company.
Chisinau International Airport’s online schedule shows two flights from Yerevan. The first one arrived at around 2:00 AM as scheduled, and the second one was supposed to land at 4:40 PM, but the updated time at press time was 10:40 PM.
MP Marina Tauber, who is close to the fugitive convicted oligarch Ilan Shor, said the plane was carrying people who attended an event of the political bloc Victorie/Pobeda. Posting on Telegram, she claimed the flight was diverted to Bucharest because the Chisinau Airport refused to receive it.
