A TU-134 airliner with 40 persons aboard makes a forced landing at the Chisinau International Airport. When the plane hits the ground it bursts into flames, releasing two tonnes of fuel. Many dead and injured. This is the scenario of a plane crash simulation exercise that was conducted on Thursday, June 26, in Chisinau. Liliana Puscasu, spokesperson for the Civil Protection and Emergency Service, has told Info-Prim Neo that the simulation aimed to test the readiness and the ability to collaborate of the intervention crews – firefighters, doctors, police and rescuers. A collateral objective was to train the crews to respond to such accidents and the airport staff to collect data and formulate proposals in making prompt decisions. The exercise came unannounced to see how people would react to the actions of the intervention crews. The simulation showed that all the crews were ready to respond to a plane disaster, said Puscasu. 20 rescue vehicles, including 8 fire engines, were involved in the exercise.
