The leader of the Party of Regions of Moldova Alexandr Kalinin said the plane by which President Igor Dodon recently returned from Moscow brought to Moldova US$ 20 million that is intended for funding the campaign of the Party of Socialists (PSRM), especially in the Transnistrian region and ATU Gagauzia. In a news conference at IPN, Alexandr Kalinin stated he obtained this information from members of the PSRM, but didn’t reveal names.
“You know that recently, the one who considers himself the Head of State paid a visit to Moscow. When he was to return home, Dodon announced that he cannot come to Chisinau by an ordinary flight owing to fog. For this reason, he was brought to Moldova by a plane of the Russian company Gazprom. In reality, this was only a pretext. If the fog had been indeed a problem, this would have been a problem also for the place by which Dodon flied back. I want today to announce publicly and with overall responsibility a very serious offense. Members of the PSRM who are already sick and tired of Dodon’s hypocrisy speak about this. From my sources from among Socialists, I know that the plane by which Dodon flied brought to Chisinau US$ 20 million for the Socialists to conduct the election campaign,” stated Alexandr Kalinin.
The leader of the Party of Regions expressed his conviction that only US$ 1 million of this sum will be used to finance the election campaign, while the rest of the money will be divided between Igor Dodon and other Socialists who are on friendly terms with him. “The PSRM actually does not want to win these elections. They only simulate the struggle against Plahotniuc and do not struggle at all with Maia Sandu and Năstase. The Socialists do not struggle. At the upcoming elections, they will play the game of the Euro-unionists, but on the Russians’ money already. Dodon also lies to the Russians when he says in Moscow he is a pro-Russian President and the PSRM acts as a pro-Russian party only to get money. It is known that Dodon has a tariff for any action that he takes. Here he should remember the €3 million he got from Plahotniuc and Filat for voting Timofti President,” stated Alexandr Kalinin.
According to him, the pro-Russian and Russian voters should know that Igor Dodon is a false pro-Russian and he is and will be pro-money. The mixed electoral system was bought by Vlad Plahotniuc. “The mixed system means that after the elections we will again have a Euro-unionist government because it’s clear for everyone that the proportional representation system helped form a stable pro-Russian majority coalition. If the PSRM is indeed pro-Russian, why did he spoil this chance and played the game of the Democrats?” asked Alexandr Kalinin.
The Party of Regions intends to file a complaint to the Central Election Commission by which it will demand that the PSRM should be removed from the electoral race because it is financed with foreign funds. “Moreover, we demand that the Prosecutor General’s Office should examine this case. If Dodon is not the political project of Plahotniuc, immediately after this news conference the prosecutors should go to the Presidential Building and the head office of the PSRM. We will do our best for this to happen,” stated Alexandr Kalinin.
