The president of the Democratic Party of Moldova Vlad Plahotniuc on September 28 paid a working visit to Turkey. During the visit, he had a meeting with the President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, IPN reports, with reference to a party’s press release.
The two officials discussed aspects of the cooperation relations between Moldova and Turkey, with special emphasis on the stimulation of economic cooperation and growth of Turkish investments in Moldova. In this connection, they conferred on the development of the free economic subzones in Comrat and Ceadar-Lunga.
The interlocutors also discussed the extension of the Free Trade Agreement with Turkey in the service sector and the opening of an economic service of Moldova in Ankara.
Another important subject for conversation was the Moldovans’ access to Turkey based on identity cards and, respectively, the Turkish citizens’ access to Moldova based on the same document.
Vlad Plahotniuc and Recep Tayyip Erdoğan also considered the possibility of opening Turkish cultural centers in Moldova.
Among other subjects discussed was the security and stability in the region and the situation in ATU Gagauzia, with emphasis on the fact that Turkey encourages the citizens of this region to better integrate into the processes that take place in the Republic of Moldova. In this connection, it was decided that Turkey will open soon a Consulate General in Comrat, it is said in the press release.
