Placement of new kiosks in Chisinau banned

The applications to be allowed to set up kiosks in Chisinau are not accepted from November 16. The ordinance was issued by Mayor General Dorin Chirtoaca, Info-Prim Neo reports. At the meeting of the municipal services and divisions on Monday, the mayor said the decision will not affect the existing kiosks and stands and the accepted applications that are being processed. Several new kiosks could appear in Chisinau in the near future, but no new applications will be accepted from today. Meanwhile, the working kiosks will be inventoried as many of them have been placed illegally or are larger than stipulated in the contract. The City Hall will formulate new regulations concerning kiosks and will submit them to the Chisinau Municipal Council for examination. According to the local authorities, 4,200 kiosks work in Chisinau at present. 1,700 of them are situated on the territory of markets.
