The National Council of the Liberal Party (PL) had a meeting in extended format. The party’s leader Mihai Ghimpu told his colleagues that the current government should be kept because otherwise there will be chaos in the country, IPN reports.

“Our position is that those who stole must be identified. If it does not happen, those who contributed to a passive investigation or who do not want those who stole to be found should be dismissed. It was clear that such a case of stealing cannot be elucidated in three months. We already know who stayed in ‘the front line’ and who used these posts consciously or unconsciously. The PL accepted the immunity to be annulled because the agreement to form the AEI 3 envisions the protection of the interests of the people, not of Ghimpu, Lupu and Filat,” stated Mihai Ghimpu.

As to the censure motion submitted to Parliament, he said the Liberal faction will not vote for it so as not to cause chaos and instability in the country. “We will yet see what happens in Parliament on October 29, when the censure motion is to be debated. The Liberal lawmakers will not support this motion so as not to allow witnessing again instability and chaos in Moldova. Dismissing the Government will be the worst solution now that we are waiting for the IMF mission to come,” stated the Liberals’ leader.

The meeting of the National Council of the PL was held in an extended format and was attended by mayors of the PL, Liberal district councilors and members of the party’s local offices from all the districts.
