The Liberal Party (PL) on September 23 launched a campaign entitled “In the Centenary Year Sign the Statement on the Republic of Moldova’s Union with Motherland Romania” as part of which signatures in favor of the union will be collected in each community of the country. The statement requests that the MPs of Chisinau and Bucharest, in virtue of the historical right and right of the nation – should ensure the Union of the Republic of Moldova with the Motherland Romania as the only solution for restoring the historical truth achieved by the Great Union of 1918 so as to ensure the unity, freedom, welfare and security of the Romanians from both sides of the Prut, IPN reports.
“This activity will be carried out all over Moldova, in all the countries localities – today, tomorrow, during one month, two or three months. As long as the citizens want to sign this statement, we, the Liberals, will be near them because the current power has different thoughts. They shifted from the European Union to the Russian-Turkish union as this can be called only this way after the Turkish citizens were expelled to Turkey to allow the dictator there to decide their fates. That’s why we, the Liberals, should keep the European integration and the union with the motherland Romania as an icon kept in our homes because, if we do not follow the path of European integration, which is to European standards and norms that guarantee the freedom of expression, the freedom of assembly, we will be unable to realize the union,” the president of the PL Mihai Ghimpu stated in the campaign launch event in the square of the National Opera House.
First vice president of the PL Dorin Chirtoacă said 100 years ago the situation in the world was similar to the current one – the democratic Europe, on the one hand, and Eurasian dictatorships, on the other hand. “Then, the political elite of the time, the People’s Council, had the necessary mind and inspiration to take this piece of land and population from Bessarabia to the West, to a better life, having the necessary arguments in this regard. First of all, because we are a nation and the water does not turn into blood. Secondly, because a better life for those who are here cannot be imagined under the domination of the Tsarist Russia or Bolshevik Russia. All these together showed that almost unanimously, everyone went towards Romania, towards Europe,” noted Dorin Chirtoacă.
“I ask you to perceive the importance of this day and be proud, each of us, that we can contribute to correcting the mistakes that were committed against us during centuries. Dear Romanians, today we gathered together here to continue the road to the union with the motherland Romania,” stated the party’s first vice president Corina Fusu.
The launch continued with a car march in all the country’s localities.
