The Liberal Party (PL) and the Ecologist Green Party (PVE) have among their priorities the stopping of the exodus of young people and rooting out of corruption if they are represented in the next legislature. Furthermore, the two parties aim to strengthen the relations with the foreign partners and to focus on the social areas, namely education and health. Representatives of the two parties developed the issue in the public debate ”Elections 2019: Please elect me MP because...”, which was the 104th installment of the series “Developing political culture through public debates” staged by IPN News Agency.
Vlad Biletski, a candidate for MP of the PL, said the exodus of young people from the Republic of Moldova is the main problem that is generated by the acute shortage of jobs. The exodus of young people leads to the accumulation of insufficient resources into the state budget and money is not enough for salaries, pensions, roads, allocations and infrastructure and poverty derives from here.
“Being young and knowing the problems, I can make a scan and say that as long as the country does not guarantee stability and safety for the foreign partners and the course assumed by the Republic of Moldova is not clear and irreversible, as it is in Romania where there are different parties, but nobody questions the pro-European and Euro-Atlantic course, our state will be regrettably divided into two completely distinct countries and this creates insecurity for foreign agents and investors that have power to invest. Moreover, as long as we do not ensure banking security so that the money placed in financial-banking institutions in Moldova does not disappear miraculously as it happened as a result of the banking fraud, the people will not come to invest in the Republic of Moldova. (...) We set the goal of ensuring an independent justice system whose irremovable status will be guaranteed and in which no politician could interfere,” stated the representative of the PL.
Vlad Biletski, who runs in uninominal constituency No. 26 Centru Buicani, said the complete lack of cooperation with the foreign community is the second serious problem. “As long as the Republic of Moldova is not represented in the U.S. and the EU, such persons as Candu, Filip, Plahotniuc, Dodon, Shor and others, who paid visits and spoke in our name, our foreign partners will draw incorrect conclusions about the Republic of Moldova,” he stated.
According to the candidate, the advantages or benefits that the Republic of Moldova could obtain in case of nice cooperation relations will not be obtained. The EU stopped the structural assistance of €100 million for the Republic of Moldova after discovering acts of corruption and learning that the money allocated for projects that were to be implemented was stolen.
Anatolie Prohnitski, a candidate of the PVE, said the MPs should realize that they were elected by the people to adopt laws for the country’s and the peoples’ benefit, not for the benefit of a party or group. It has been seen during many years that oligarchic-political parties that promote pecuniary and group interests have alternated in power in Moldova.
“That’s why new, clean forces should come to the future Parliament and make effort and work as it is stipulated in the Constitution and in accordance with the rules of life, for the people’s benefit. It was decided that the European course is our development course, whether someone likes this or not. This decision taken by the people should be respected and effort should be made in this regard. Revolutions do not need to be staged again. No one will solve our problems. The parliamentarians of the Republic of Moldova should work in the country’s interests and should not wait for someone to explain to them, to pressurize them, to make them work,” noted the candidate.
Anatolie Prohnitski said the rooting out of corruption should be the key preoccupation as the people in the Republic of Moldova are born in corruption and die in corruption. “Bribe is given throughout life – at the maternity hospital, at school, at kindergarten, when applying for a job and the person has to also pay when dying. This is not normal. Corruption should be annihilated. We can do it by education,” noted the politician.
According to him, there is no proper education in Moldova. In schools, 60% of the books are in the Latin script and the country experiences a shortage of teachers who form the generations. These do not have appropriate salaries, but they form the basis of the state and should be provided with everything so that they do not face problems and educate the young generation. The schools should be property equipped.
Anatolie Prohnitski said the population’s health, the health system and environmental protection are also among the priorities. “A sick man cannot adopt healthy decisions. If we have a healthy population, we will later have economy, security and all the others,” he concluded.
The Political Party “Patria” was also invited to the February 5 debate, but this delegated no representative to take part.
The contestants are invited to the electoral debates held by IPN Agency in accordance with the order in which they were registered by the Central Election Commission. The debate on January 30 involved representatives of the electoral bloc ACUM, the Party of Communists and the Party of Socialists. Representatives of the Shor Party, the People’s Movement Antimafie, the Our Party and the National Liberal Party took part in the January 31 debate. The debate held on February 4 involved representatives of the Party “People’s Will”, the Party “Democracy at Home” and Professionals’ Movement “Speranța-Nadejda”.
Of the 15 election contestants, the invitation to the debate was rejected by the Democratic Party, the Party of Regions and the Political Party “Patria”.
