Pipe rupture in Botanica to be fixed by day's end

Water supply in Chisinau's Botanica district, where a major pipe failed on Sunday, will be resumed by the end of this day, assured Ion Burdila, the sales director of the water utility Apa-Canal Chisinau (ACC). The announcement was made at the City Hall's ordinary meeting today. The ACC official said that for technical reasons water supply to the suburban community of Bubuieci had been also disrupted, but the problem would be partly fixed when a new water main is launched in several days. Ion Burdila also announced that on Friday, June 26, the ACC paid the last installment of its debt to the electricity supplier Union Fenosa and the electric bill for May. Penalties for delayed payment (some 74 million lei) are to be paid in several days. The ACC's overdue debts owed to the electric utility threatened to leave the city without water.
