Piotr Ianulov wins bronze at Individual World Cup

Moldovan wrestler Piotr Ianulov won bronze at the Individual World Cup in Belgrade. In the small final of the 86 kg eight class, the 34-year-old athlete beat Indias’s Deepak Punia 4-1, IPN reports.

In the 1/8 finals, Ianulov defeated only Slovakia’s Boris Makoev 3-1. Then, in the quarterfinals, he lost to the future winner Dauren Kurugliev of Russia, who won the Minsk European Games in 2019. In the playoffs, the Gagauz wrestler won against France’s Akhmed Aibuev, while in the decisive match beat India’s Deepak Punia, world vice champion last year.

In the small final of the 65 kg class, Nicolai Grahmez lost to Ukraine’s Hor Ohannesian 1-7. Earlier, freestyle wrestler Gheorghii Rubaev won silver in the 92 kg class.
