Pilot project to look after children aged 0-3 to be launched at USM

A pilot project to care for children aged between 0 and 3 will be launched at the Moldova State University (USM) to help the young families work and study. A memorandum to this effect was signed by the USM rector Igor Sharov and Minister of Labor and Social Protection Marcel Spătari, IPN reports.

A safe space for looking after children younger than three will be set up at the University. The USM, together with the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, undertook to facilitate the selection, professional training and involvement of qualified personnel and volunteers in the provision of childcare services at the new service created at the institution.

The Moldova State University is the first higher educational institution in the country that will implement such a project as it has the necessary resources and potential, skilled personnel and a large number of students studying for a master’s degree who have small children, the institution noted in a press release.

Also today, the USM and the Ministry signed an action plan for implementing a memorandum of cooperation in training social assistants and in engaging the academia in drafting and approving social policies.
