On September 27, a number of young Orthodox Christians, accompanied by parishioners from other age categories, will start the eighth Pilgrimage of the Youth, which is organized before the feast of the Elevation of the Holy Cross. The pilgrims, who will wear crosses, flags and icons and will sing church songs, will set off from the Church of the State University of Moldova located on Mihail Kogalniceanu St in Chisinau and will walk 16 km up to the Sireti Monastery, IPN reports.

The pilgrims will walk along Mateeevici St up to Vasile Lupu St and then along the streets Shchusev, Stefan cel Mare and Calea Iesilor. They will then move on the Chisinau – Straseni road up to the stoplights in Vatra town and afterward over the railway to Sireti village. A thanksgiving service will be held at the Sireti Monastery, followed by a vigil. The pilgrims will then kneel before the holy relics and will have a Christian repast. In the evening, the pilgrims will return to Chisinau by ordered buses.

On its website, the Metropolitan Church of Chisinau and all Moldova calls on the people, especially the young ones, to take part in this pilgrimage, which represents a spiritual thanksgiving act.

A series of marches and protests against the government will be mounted in Chisinau the same day.
