Children took pictures together with Santa Claus, while the adults tasted dishes representing different countries at the 16th Winter Charity Bazaar that was staged by the International Women’s Club of Moldova on December 8, Info-Prim Neo reports.
First lady Margareta Timofti said that from her viewpoint, the event was successful because many people came and were satisfied with what they found. “The aim of the event is to raise money for charity and the people are ready to donate. The proceeds will go to a social crèche in Tiraspol for solitary mothers and will be used to prevent child abandonment,” she stated.
Margareta Timofti made a donation, saying that it represented her salary. “I visited all the stands and remained impressed by the people’s energy and their wish to help those who are sadder. I was impressed by their positivism and openness. They are very friendly. We have here representatives of embassies of about 40 countries. They get along well and are friends,” said the President’s wife.
U.S. President’s wife Marie Moser, who is a member of the International Women’s Club, called on the visitors to buy and taste dishes and beverages of all the embassies and international organizations present at the bazaar. She reminded that it was a charity event. Asked if she cooked something herself, Marie Moser said she prepared dishes by the recipe of her mother-in-law and brought them to the bazaar.
The Winter Charity Bazaar is supported by sponsors too. About 35,000 lei was collected with their assistance and with the people’s donations by 11.00. The bazaar will continue until 16.00.
