The gathering of such rare spring plans as snowdrops, forest tulips and pasque flowers is banned. The Forestry Agency “Moldsilva” warns that these plans, which were included in the Red Book of the Republic of Moldova, are illegally collected and then sold in the municipality of Chisinau and on public roads. In February – March, the number of such cases increases, IPN reports.
“Moldsilva” director general Ion Cebanu made an order concerning the measures that will be taken to protect the rare species. These include the creation of inspection groups that will carry out raids to stop and prevent the collection and sale of rare plans. There will be monitored the places where these grow in the natural reserves “Codrii”, “Padurea Domneasca”, “Plaiul Fagului”, “Prutul de Jos” and other protected areas.
The persons caught picking up or selling rare plants are liable to a maximum fine of 2,000 lei.
In the same connection, “ Moldsilva” calls on the people to refrain from gathering such plants and to report such cases on the hotline (022) 211-311.
