The Prosecutor General’s Office (PG) completed the investigation of a case concerning the illegal tapping of phones by an employee of the Ministry of the Interior and sent it to court, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to a communiqué from the PG, the officer of the Ministry of the Interior introduced false data in a document and obtained a warrant allowing listening to the phone conversations of nine persons, including MPs Veaceslav Untila and Serafim Urecheanu, during July 6 and September 5, 2009. The accused cannot leave the country for a period of 30 days. On October 22, the PG finished the investigation of another case on illegal wiretapping. The head of the Information and Security Service’s Operative-Technical Division was accused of violating the right to private phone conversations and of misuse of power. During November 3, 2008 – September 24, 2009, he ordered listening to the phone conversations of four current and a former officer of the Service in the absence of a warrant. On July 13, the Lieutenant-Colonel was suspended from post.
