MP of the Party “Dignity and Truth Platform” (PPPDA) Kiril Moțpan called upon the law enforcement agencies, especially the Prosecutor General’s Office (PGO), to reassess all the cases that were started according to political criteria. According to the MP, most of these cases were started based on false statements or out of political interest, IPN reports.

In a news conference, Kiril Moțpan said the existence of political cases in a democracy is inadmissible. During the last few years, supporters of the PPPDA and other entities have been subject to political persecution. There are at least 50 recorded cases when criminal cases were started against activists of the PPPDA.

Also today, a group of MPs of the PPPDA registered in Parliament a legislative proposal for adopting a declaration on the dropping of the political cases started against persons persecuted by the oligarchic regime. The declaration asks for the public rehabilitation of persons who had been or continue to be victims of political repression. In at least 30 days of the adoption of the given declaration, the prosecutor general should present a synthesis report in Parliament on the state of political cases and of the victims of political repression and on the punishment of those who started cases by order. The PPPDA MPs called on the parliamentarians to adopt this legislative proposal.
