Several criminal cases started against the leader of the Shor Party Ilan Shor are being investigated or are pending in court. But these cannot be finished because the suspect is wanted. As Ilan Shor was elected MP again and will enjoy immunity, the Prosecutor General’s Office (PGO) said that after it obtained the Parliament’s consent to conduct all the procedural actions, a new request to the legislative body is not necessary. It will yet decide whether to ask again to lift the immunity of the MP or not, IPN reports.

The institution noted that given the resonance and complexity of this subject and the lack of a legal precedent, the PGO will ask the legislative body to interpreted the law in this regard and, depending on the Parliament’s position, it will decide whether to ask to lift the MP’s immunity or not.

As to MP Petru Jardan, the PGO said that the criminal case against this was sent to court on June 21. The investigation into the criminal case started against MP Denis Ulanov was completed and the defense is now familiarizing itself with the materials of the case, in accordance with a preset timetable. The case is to be sent to court at the start of this August.

Under the constitutional provisions, the seat of MP stops being valid when the newly elected Parliament comes together for its first siting. Therefore, the Parliament’s consent to send the case against MPs Jardan and Ulanov to court is valid at least until the new legislature has its first legal siting.
