The Prosecutor General’s Office (PGO) said it started a criminal case against the leader of the Political Party “Our Party” Renato Usatyi over threats with use of violence against persons holding important posts, IPN reports.

In a requisition, the Presidential Office asked to examine the legality of a series of unauthorized public events staged by Renato Usatyi in 2015, including near facilities protected by the state, with the aim of destabilizing the activity of the Presidential Office. These are considered interference in the work of President Nicolae Timofti. Also, in these events the head of state was threatened with damage to the body and health.

The penalty for such offenses carries a fine of 6,000 to 20,000 lei, up to 180 hours of community service or two years in jail.

On January 17, the leader of the “Our Party” Renato Usatyi left for Moscow. In a message on his Facebook page, Renato Usatyi says he will follow the developments in Moldova from Moscow.
