No criminal case was started over the privatization of the state-owned enterprise Codru Hotel Complex at a commercial contest, the Prosecutor General’s Office (PGO) responded to an inquiry mad by Deputy Speaker of Parliament Alexandru Slusari.

Contacted by IPN for a comment, Alexandru Slusari said the PGO makes reference to a definitive court judgment passed after the privatization decision was challenged in court several years ago. “I also received a response from the Public Property Agency. They consider that the subject concerning the Codru Hotel was closed following this decision,” he stated.

At the end of January, Alexandru Slusari requested the law enforcement agencies to inform him if a criminal case on the privatization of the state-owned Codru Hotel Complex at a commercial contest was started after 2010. He said the Court of Auditors, in its decision dating from 2010, specified that this process was detrimental to the state and incomes of over 161 million lei could not be collected.

In 2008, the complex was sold for 50 million lei. The Court of Auditor’s report shows the minimum and average selling prices of a square meter in buildings situated nearby were almost 17,000 and 23,000 lei.
