Persons with serious penal problems try by any means and at any cost to discredit the prosecution service, especially the prosecutor general, the Prosecutor General’s Office said after the suspended chief prosecutor of the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office Viorel Morari said there are particular ties between the wife of the prosecutor general and persons close to Veaceslav Platon and Platon himself and this shows why the examination of the revision case featuring this is being hastened. According to the PGO, Viorel Morari made such statements after he was summoned for next week to be charged on a number of counts – offenses committed while heading the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office, IPN reports.
“Prosecutor General Alexandr Stoianoglo firmly and categorically denies the serious accusations made against him and the members of his family, as if he has ties with particular delinquent companies affiliated to a person who is investigated in particular cases. Assuming investigations of such a scale, the PGO anticipated and warned society that attacks and pressure on the part of those who served the captured state will be witnessed together with the progress made in investigations,” the PGO says in a press release.
The institution also says that according to the information obtained from Ukrainian colleagues, on January 5, 2021, in a notary’s office in Kiev, not yet identified persons authenticated changes in the register of the companies (to which Morari referred) so that the name of the prosecutor general’s wife was indicated as the final beneficiary of these firms.
The PGO reminds that it is handling a criminal case concerning interference in the examination of the bank fraud case and the actions of the persons who falsified documents and recently introduced changes in the information system of the Ukrainian Ministry of Justice will be examined through the angel of this offense component.
In a news conference, Viorel Morari said there is information and data on the website of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine showing that Prosecutor General Alexandr Stoianoglo’s wife is the beneficiary of two Ukrainian companies that are owned directly or indirectly by Veaceslav Platon and whose names are mentioned in a Supreme Court of Justice judgment in the case of Platon.
