The Prosecutor General’s Office (PGO) on January 9 asked the Supreme Council of Magistrates to give its consent to investigating the vice president of the Chisinau Court of Appeals Gheorghe Cretu, who is suspected of wounding fatally a Chisinau resident while hunting on December 23, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to a communiqué from the PGO, the judge’s acts represent elements of an offense, as provided in Article 149 of the Penal Code – unintentional murder. On December 23, 2012, a man aged 34 was injured from a gun during authorized boar hunting. He died in the hospital two days later. The Falesti Prosecutor’s Office started a criminal case and is waiting for the results of all the forensic tests performed so as to objectively investigate this case. The suspected judge will be questioned after the Supreme Council of Magistrates gives its consent. The investigation is to be completed by the end of this month and the case will be sent to court. Supreme Council of Magistrates president Nichifor Corochii has told Info-Prim Neo that after a relevant request is made, the issue is included in the Council’s agenda and the decision to allow investigating a judge is taken by the votes of the Council members.
