Parliament Deputy Speaker Alexandru Slusari requested the law enforcement agencies to inform him if a criminal case on the privatization of the state-owned Codru Hotel Complex at a commercial contest was started after 2010. He said the Court of Auditors, in its decision dating from 2010, specified that this process was detrimental to the state and incomes of over 161 million lei could not be collected, IPN reports.
In 2008, the complex was sold for 50 million lei. In his letter to the Prosecutor General’s Office (PGO), Alexandru Slusari says that a square meter of the hotel complex was sold for up to 4,000 lei. The Court of Auditor’s report shows the minimum and average selling prices of a square meter in buildings situated nearby were almost 17,000 and 23,000 lei.
He also requested the Public Property Agency to provide information about the composition of the contest commission that took the decision concerning the privatization of the hotel at a very low price, according to him.
