The Prosecutor General’s Office said the statements made by the former Romanian MP Cristian Rizea cannot contribute to restarting the investigation into the deaths of Ion Butmalai, Iurie Luncașu and Saro Salemi. The details were provided after Rizea was questioned on May 14 and 19 following the statements made by him in a TV program. He said ex-MP Butmalai and businessmen Luncașu and Salemi were assassinated, IPN reports.
“When being questioned, he didn’t provide details that would enable to resume the investigation if new or recently discovered facts appear, about which the investigation authority does not known or that can affect the earlier adopted solutions. In particular, the former MP told the prosecutors that he does not possess concrete evidence that can prove the murder of the three persons, while his conclusions about the “assassination” were deduced intuitively from street information or media sources that are available to the general public,” the PGO says in a press release.
Those who possess relevant information can go to the Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime and Special Cases for being questioned.
