“Regardless of the results of these elections, the members of the Central Election Commission must be dismissed for obstructing the right to vote of thousands of Moldovans abroad,” Petru Macovei, executive director of the Association of Independent Press, wrote on a social networking site, IPN reports.

According to the observers of “Promo-LEX”, lines were formed at minimum ten polling places abroad. The CEC confirmed that the 3,000 ballots distributed to the polling place established in Stratford, London, were used up. This is the highest number of ballots available to one polling place under the Election Code. The CEC said all the communication measures were taken to redirect the voters to the closest polling station – the one housed by Moldova’s Embassy in London, where about 800 ballots are yet available.

Also, Moldova’s Ambassador to Italy Stela Stangaci called on the Moldovans who live in Rome to vote at the polling place housed by the Embassy because the polling place established near the terminus at 5 Via di Porta San Lorenzo could soon use up the available ballots.
