Moldova’s ex-Presdoent Petru Lucinschi regrets it that the dissatisfaction is the foreground in the country today. Therefore, after the parliamentary elections the country can again witness the situation when a parliamentary majority cannot be formed, IPN reports.

In the program “Without myths” in the studio of the Chisinau newspaper “Panoram”, Petru Lucinschi expressed his concern about the fact that when examining important state matters, the problems are often dealt with not in offices, but at festivity tables. “This is how clans work,” he stated.

“The major decisions are taken not by the Government or Parliament, but by parties managed by persons without state posts. This is typical of all the parties: the Liberal Party, the Democratic Party, and the Liberal Democratic Party. The government mechanism is built on the fact that the decision as to who should hold state positions and the laws that must be adopted are taken by parties. That’s why I hope that something will change after the elections. But I fear we can again experience a difficult situation, when it is impossible to form a parliamentary majority,” said the former President of Moldova.

Speaking about the possibility of pro-Russian parties strengthening their positions and the danger of Moldova’s foreign course being changed, Petru Lucinschi recommended thinking about the real life too, namely about the fact that the country receives enormous funds for modernization: they build roads and another kind of infrastructure. “What will the left-wing or extreme-right parties do when money will be needed for developing the country? I’m for a balanced policy and consider the European integration a positive factor,” he stated.
