The European Parliament Rapporteur for Moldova Petras Auštrevičius said the European partners are waiting for concrete and immediate results in the reformation process in Moldova. After a meeting with Prime Minister Pavel Filip on February 10, the official said that Moldova has one future, the European one, but reforms should be done to bring about changes in the country, IPN reports.
Petras Auštrevičius noted that the European partners want to see the results of the investigation of the bank frauds and the names of the persons who were behind these. The fight against corruption should be continued, while the state institutions in Moldova should be depoliticized.
“The European Union sees a partner in the Republic of Moldova, as Moldova is a partner of the EU, and the partners speak openly and sincerely between them. We are open for cooperation with the Republic of Moldova,” stated Petras Austrevicius.
For his part, Prime Minister Pavel Filip assured the European official that the Government he heads is determined to make effort to overcome the crisis in Moldova. The Government’s work is aimed at regaining the confidence of the people and the external partners.
The Premier said the maintaining of the European course and the implementation of the Association Agreement with the EU are top priorities for the executive. The Government is aware of the concerns stated by the MEPs in the resolution on the implementation of the Association Agreement and will do its best to remove them. The support of the European Parliament counts a lot for the government of Moldova.
The European Parliament Rapporteur for Moldova Petras Auštrevičius has paid a three-day visit to Chisinau. He had meetings with senior government officials and politicians.
